Abattement de l'azote par le marais côtier de Kervigen et potentiel breton ArchiMer

The coastal marsh of Kervigen is located near by the bay of Douarnenez and its 22 hectares are almost entirely covered by reeds. An experiment was there carried out to assess the nitrogen flux depletion of a small stream, the Kerharo. That one has a 45 km 2 mostly agricultural drainage basin. Due to its nitrate loadings to the next sandy beach, it feeds a green algae (Ulva) proliferation. In order to control its nitrogen fluxes, the stream was partly diverted through a part of the marsh (9 ha), before it was allowed to go back to the main bed. Thus a collapsible weir was set up during several springs and summers, i.e. the growing period of Ulva. Nitrate and ammonium uptake rates were measured in spring and summer in deep and shallow well-mixed waters of the English Channel during different cruises between 1986 and 1994. In the deep waters, nitrate uptake was relatively low during phytoplankton development and ammonium uptake represented more than 70 % of the total uptake irrespective of the season. In the shallow waters, nitrate uptake during spring phytoplankton growth was high and represented about 75 % of the total uptake. Ammonium uptake became substantial towards the end of spring and summer. The aim of this thesis is to improve knowledge on mechanisms involved in the response to nitrogen limitation and in lipid accumulation in the microalgae haptophyte Tisochrysis lutea. The wild type strain and a lipid accumulating mutant strain were grown under different nitrogen limitation and starvation and analyzed by functional genomics. Four genes of high-affinity nitrate/nitrite transporter (Nrt2) were identified and characterized to reveal the mechanisms involved in mineral absorption in this species. Bilan azoté des flux tidaux d'un marais salé à végétation halophyte ArchiMer

In spring 2001, during a complete tidal cycle, nitrogen fluxes between the sea and the salt marsh were calculated. The marsh (1198 m2) covered in 75 % by halophytes, with 46 % by the sea purslane, Halimione portulacoides. The nitrogen balance shows that the salt marsh imports nitrogen micro-particules (2,09 g) by sedimentation, exports dissolved nitrogen (4,13 g), and that the macro-element part (-1,02 g in fauna and vegetable refuse) in the global mass balance (3,06 g) is not unimportant. Contamination chimique des sédiments des lagunes méditerranéennes françaises - Bilan de la Campagne ROCCHSED 2017 ArchiMer

le Réseau d’Observation de la Contamination Chimique (ROCCH) évalue la qualité chimique du milieu marin à partir des concentrations en contaminants mesurées dans la chair de mollusques et dans le compartiment superficiel fin des sédiments prélevés sur les fonds. La campagne ROCCHSED2017 est la 4ème campagne d’échantillonnage dans les lagunes méditerranéennes françaises. Elle a permis la mesure de concentrations en éléments traces métalliques et en contaminants organiques (sur la base des listes des réglementations en vigueur) dans les sédiments de 13 lagunes.

Le projet DIETE a exploré les données hydrobiologiques (paramètres physico-chimiques, nutriments, phytoplancton) acquises depuis les années 80 dans les eaux côtières au large de la Loire et de la Vilaine, parallèlement à celles des deux fleuves. L’augmentation des concentrations de nitrates dans les eaux de la Loire, appuyée par les réserves sédimentaires de phosphates et de silicate ont entraîné de profonds bouleversements dans la dynamique du phytoplancton de la baie de Vilaine ces deux dernières décennies avec 1) une augmentation substantielle de la biomasse, 2) une modification importante de l’évolution saisonnière, 3) un changement dans les proportions entre diatomées et dinoflagellés au profit des diatomées. The respective influences of the sediment and of oyster (Crassostrea gigas) farming on the accumulation and the recycling of different forms of organic and inorganic nitrogen are described. Fluxes of dissolved inorganic and organic forms of nitrogen were studied between the water column, the water overlying the sediment and the pore waters, while for particulate forms the fluxes were studied between suspended material, the "biodeposits" (faeces and pseudofaeces of Crassostrea) and the sediment. Etude expérimentale de la fertilité des eaux des milieux conchylicoles : influence de l'excretion des huîtres et des palourdes sur la production des diatomées dominantes ArchiMer

L'impact de l'excrétion de Mollusques Bivalves cultivés sur la croissance de Diatomées dans les zones conchylicoles est étudié expérimentalement. Les Huîtres et les Palourdes enrichissent les eaux où elles séjournent en ammoniaque, urée, acides aminés et autres substances azotées ainsi qu'en phosphore minéral et organique dissous. En conséquence, la fertilité potentielle des eaux pour trois Diatomées des milieux conchylicoles est améliorée. De plus, les algues bénéficient parfois d'apports complémentaires de vitamines et de métaux de la part des Mollusques. Les Diatomées prélèvent les nitrates simultanément à l'ammoniaque. Evaluation des proliferations d'algues vertes sur le littoral breton en juin 1994 ArchiMer

During June 1994, 44 beaches with "green-tides" were identified along the coasts of Brittany. Compared to previous years, seaweed amounts accumulated on beaches receiving nitrogen inputs from granitic catchments can be considered stable, contrary to beaches exposed to nutrient fluxes originating from schistous catchments, where an increase of accumulations is observed. This late process can be explained by an increase of nitrogen loadings during periods of heavy rain (late spring 1994) on impervious basement rocks.

Influence de l'azote et du phosphore sur la croissance et la toxicité de Prorocentrum lima (Ehrenberg) Dodge ArchiMer

Very few attempts have been made in order to investigate the role of nutrients on cellular growth and toxin production in dinoflagellates associated with DSP (Diarrhetic Shellfish Poison). Some preliminary results are presented here, aiming at a better knowledge of inorganic nitrogen and organic phosphorus effects upon division rate and toxin content of Prorocentrum lima (PL2V spanish strain). Nitrogen have a positive effect on growth rate, up to a threshold value of 880muM.l-1. Above this threshold the rate decreases. There is no effect on toxin content since okadaic acid and DTX1 cell contents remain low (4.8 +/- 0.5 pg.cell.-1) and steady. Few years ago, proliferations of the green seaweed Enteromorpha have been noticed on sorne beaches of the southem coast of Martinique (American French Island). A study, in the year 1992, shows that Enteromorpha has a seasonal development, that nitrogen is the limiting factor, and that its principal feeding cornes from urban discharges thrown away directly into growing areas.

Thau is a mediterranean lagoon with a large productive stock of molluscs (oysters, mussels) cultivated on suspended tines and colonised by epibionta (ascidia and others invertebrates, algae, etc ... ). This study was developed as part of the PNOC-OXYTHAU.programme. Its aim was to analyze the effects of oyster farrning on water-mass surrounding structures loaded with suspended molluscs and proximal watermass separating these structures. The gulf of Morbihan, without manifesting any pronounced signs of eutrophication, has, in 1995, three sites of green algae proliferation: the Auray river estuary, the branches of the Vannes and Séné estuary, as well as the outlet of the Noyalo's estuary. They are also the three sectors of the gulf that receive the most nutrient salts, in particular, nitrogen, which is a determining factor in the development of nitrophilic green algae (Ménesguen and Piriou 1995). During spring the nitrogen seems to come as much from urban sources (Vannes, Auray) as from agricultural sources coming from the northern catchment areas of the gulf.

Les politiques publiques mises en place pour la reconquête de la bonne qualité des écosystèmes lagunaires se sont attachées à réduire les intrants d’éléments nutritifs (N et P). Cependant, au cours des 30 dernières années, les lagunes ont stocké d’importantes quantités de ces éléments, notamment dans les sédiments.
